چکیده

OBJECTIVE The clinical behavior of meningiomas is not entirely captured by its designated WHO grade, therefore other factors must be elucidated that portend increased tumor aggressiveness and associated risk recurrence. In this study, the authors identify multiparametric MRI radiomic signatures using Ki-67 as a prognostic marker outcomes independent grade. METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted all resected between 2012 2018. Preoperative MR images were used for high-throughput feature extraction subsequently to develop machine learning algorithm stratify based on indices < 5% ≥ 5%, Progression-free survival (PFS) assessed prediction strata compared with histopathological Ki-67. RESULTS Three hundred forty-three included: 291 grade I, 43 II, 9 III. overall rate recurrence 19.8% (15.1% in 44.2% 77.8% III) over median follow-up 28.5 months. Grade II III tumors had higher than I tumors, albeit peritumoral edema volumes considerable variation meningioma Forty-six high-performing features (1 morphological, 7 intensity-based, 38 textural) identified build support vector model cutoff resultant areas under curve 0.83 (95% CI 0.78–0.89) 0.84 0.75–0.94) achieved discovery (n = 257) validation 86) data sets, respectively. Comparison versus learning–predicted showed excellent performance (overall accuracy > 80%), classification exhibiting greatest accuracy. Prediction classifier revealed shorter PFS (p 0.0001, log-rank test), which corroborates divergent patient observed CONCLUSIONS proliferation index may serve surrogate Machine preoperative Ki-67, provides enhanced analytical insights help improve diagnostic guide patient-specific treatment strategies.

Prognostic relevance of the Ki-67 proliferation index in patients with mantle cell lymphoma

BACKGROUND A high Ki-67 proliferation index (PI) in neoplastic cells is associated with poor survival in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). We aimed to determine the cut-off values for the Ki-67 PI as a prognostic factor in MCL according to bone marrow findings. METHODS Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining for Ki-67 was performed on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded biopsy tissues from 56 patients with...

Effect of embolisation of meningioma on Ki-67 proliferation index.

The proliferation indices (PIs) were determined in 33 meningiomas using two monoclonal antibodies to the Ki-67 antigen (Ki-67 and MIB1). PIs obtained using Ki-67 on frozen material were intermediate between the lowest and highest MIB1 PIs determined in paraffin wax sections. Preoperative embolisation did not influence Ki67 PI, but four of the 15 embolised tumours showed substantially increased ...

Ki-67 as a prognostic marker according to breast cancer molecular subtype

OBJECTIVE Ki-67 plays an important function in cell division, but its exact role is still unknown. Moreover, few works regarding its overall function were published. The present study evaluated the clinical significance of Ki-67 index as a prognostic marker and predictor of recurrence in different molecular subtypes of breast cancer. The relationship of Ki-67 index with different clinicopatholo...

New automated image analysis method for the assessment of Ki-67 labeling index in meningiomas.

Many studies have emphasised the importance of Ki-67 labeling index (LI) as the proliferation marker in meningiomas. Several authors confirmed, that Ki-67 LI has prognostic significance and correlates with likelihood of tumour recurrences. These observations were widely accepted by pathologists, but up till now no standard method for Ki-67 LI assessment was developed and introduced for the diag...

Clinical Significance of Ki-67 Labeling Index in Pituitary Macroadenoma

The aim of our study was to investigate the correlation of the proliferative activity of pituitary neoplasms with clinical characteristics and recurrences. Tumor specimens were obtained from 44 consecutive patients with pituitary macroadenomas who underwent surgery between July 1998 and August 2003. Specimens were immediately fixed in 10% buffered formalin and then embedded in paraffin. The Ki-...
